Security provider Webroot has announced the availability of Webroot Web Security Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) that defends SMBs from Internet threats, manages Web usage, minimizes accidental data leakage and protects mobile users.
"While a lot threats originally focused around e-mail, we've seen a shift where 85 percent of threats are now being delivered via the Web and what this service allows you to do is to protect all of your users from drive-by malware," said Brian Czarny, vice president of solutions marketing with Webroot.
He added that the service serves as a proxy delivered in the cloud that scans for various kinds of threats like spyware and adware and stops them before they reach the perimeter of the organization. It also provides URL filtering, applies policies and increases employee productivity as well as content control and overall policy management. Users also get real time reporting so they can see exactly what is happening in terms of employee browsing thus ensuring appropriate employee Web usage. 数据挖掘实验室
Czarny said what makes Webroot's Web Security SaaS different from other security vendors' Web threat protection products is that it is a hosted solution that is managed and updated "in the cloud" and requires no additional hardware, software or personnel resources. As well, there are no scalability or redundancy concerns.
"This lowers the total cost of ownership for SMBs since those organizations are much more price sensitive," noted Czarny. "In particular, Web filtering is a new approach to protecting small businesses and [SMBs] are looking at putting in place Web security [because] of the way threats have changed to being delivered through the Web." 数据挖掘研究院
Webroot Web Security Software-as-a-Service is available now through Webroot's channel partners for $5 per user per month. The price includes anti-virus, anti-spyware and URL filtering. Czarny added that it is a service that partners can add to their portfolio as it is a form factor that they are currently not deploying.
