We would like to invite you to submit a paper to the Internat ional Conference on Biomedical Electronics and Devices (BIODEVICES 2008), which has currently an open call for papers. This prestigious conference is organized by INSTICC with technical co -sponsorship by the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. A special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems (http://ewh.ieee.org/soc/cas /tbcas/) will be edited based on the very best papers of the conference.
BIODEVICES-2008 will be held in Funchal, Portugal (island of Madeira) next year, on January 28-31, in collaboratio n with the University of Madeira.
The purpose of the Internationa l Conference on Biomedical Electronics and Devices is to bring together researchers and practitioners from electronics and mechanical engineering, interested in studying and using models, equipments and materials inspired from biological systems and/or addressing biological requirements. Monitoring devices, instrument ation sensors and systems, biorobotics, micro-nanotechnol ogies and biomaterials are some of the technologies addressed at this conference.
The conference program includes
a number of Keynote Lectures to be delivered by distinguish ed world-class researchers. It also includes at least one panel on a relevant topic of research. The list of currentl y confirmed invited speakers can be found at the conference web site.
Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, in paper and in CD-ROM support. The proceedings will be indexed by several major international indexers, including INSPEC, DBLP and ISI Proceedings*SM.
Additionaly, a selection of the best papers of the conference may be published in a book, by Springer. Best paper awards will also be distributed during the conference.
Please check further details at the BIODEVICES-2008 conference web site (http://www.biodevices.org). There you will find detailed information about the conferen ce structure and its main topic areas. This conference is co-located and part of the Joint Conference on Biomedical Engineering Systems and Technologies (BIOSTEC www .biostec.org)
Special sessions are also invited. If you wish to propose a special session, for example based on the results of a specific research project, please contact the secretariat.
Kind regards,
Marina
